Olive Tree Restaurant, Rodley - The Olive Tree Restaurant opened in Leeds in September 1986, the first branch having been opened in 1982. Since opening it has received many culinary awards was selected as 'Restaurant of the Year' by the Yorkshire Evening Post in 1986.  Further acclaims came from the Egon Ronay Guide,The Vegetarian Society,Relais Routers, the AA Restaurant Guide and The Good Food Guide. I was actually really disappointed. I was expecting a fantastic experience. Unfortunately, the food wasn't quite up to the prices and one of the waiters was really rude to us. The restaurant is beautiful inside but the cheap tables and conference centre chairs didn't match the austere architecture, or again the menu prices. I think there are so many excellent restaurants in Leeds for the same price. Oh, also, the rude waiter also stung us for the not optional 'optional' tip - which was quite presumptuous!

Four of us dined on a Sunday evening, atmosphere was lacking as there were only a few diners and lights were on full. Very disappointed in the food, to name a few things - Starters; special spicy lamb kofta (was neither special or spicy), special ham and halloumi (dry, overcooked, very saltly cheese) both of these were served with garnish of very unripe tomatoes and a flavourless salsa. Mains; special fillet of lamb (this came as a shoulder of lamb complete with bone and lots of fat, asked for med rare and came well done)rnWhen trying to rectify the above matters, a manager with very little english language was very unhelpful and couldn't seem to work the calculator after 3 attempts at sorting our bill.rnOverall a very bad experience, a waste of money and definately would not return or recommend to anyone.
